Abstract
La Teoría de la Práctica es una
rama de la teoría sociológica que
considera que el mundo en el que
vivimos está formado por las diversas
prácticas sociales llevadas a
saludables.
Practice Theory is a branch of sociological theory that considers the world in which we live is made up of the various social practices we carry out, such as working, eating, shopping, going to the cinema or doing sports. Therefore, the fundamental object of study of the social researcher should be practices, which we can imagine as entities that have their own life, and whose existence depends on their ability to become part of people's lives. We reproduce, perpetuate, transform or quit such practices; therefore, our life cycle and that of social practices are joined. In this communication, we will begin with the vision of the social world that provides us the perspective of Practice Theory to present running as a physical-sporting activity that has its own life cycle. Based on an investigation carried out in the city of Valencia, we show that running has evolved in its configuration throughout its history, largely thanks to the recruitment of new practitioners who have perpetuated its existence and have contributed to its evolution. We believe that knowing the configuration and the dynamics of recruitment of physical-sporting practices such as running can help sport managers in their work to promote healthier lifestyles.
