Los protocolos de ecografía pulmonar T-FAST y Vet BLUE son técnicas muy empleadas para la valoración y la detección de diferentes procesos a nivel del tórax. Las líneas B son artefactos que se generan en ecografía pulmonar y que representan la existencia de síndrome alveolo-intersticial que se produce por la existencia de agua extravascular y se definen como un hallazgo ecográfico que se observa en forma de haces hiperecogénicos verticales que nacen desde la superficie de la pleura. El principal objetivo del presente estudio es determinar si existe una relación entre líneas B anchas en ecografía pulmonar y la existencia de un patrón alveolar en radiografía torácica. Metodología- En la investigación fueron incluidos perros y gatos que acudieron al Hospital Veterinario de la Universidad Católica de Valencia, tanto de urgencias como visitas rutinarias, en los que se hallaron líneas B. Posteriormente, se realizaron radiografías de tórax de estos animales y se compararon las imágenes ecográficas con los hallazgos radiológicos para determinar si existía relación entre estos. Resultados- Se determinó que no existía una relación estadísticamente significativa entre las líneas B anchas en ecografía y la presencia de un patrón alveolar en radiografía. Conclusiones- La presencia de líneas B anchas en ecografía torácica no se ha relacionado con la presencia de un patrón alveolar en radiografía. Los resultados obtenidos probablemente se deban al reducido tamaño de la población y sería interesante en un futuro, ampliar el número de animales que participan en el estudio para continuar con la investigación.Introduction and objectives- Lung ultrasound is an extremely useful technique in emergency medicine allowing for early recognition of pulmonary diseases. The T-FAST and Vet BLUE protocols are lung ultrasound techniques widely used to evaluate and detect different processes in the thoracic area. B-lines are artifacts generated within the pulmonary parenchyma which indicate the presence of alveolar-interstitial syndrome, this is produced by the presence of extravascular water and is defined as an ultrasound finding which is observed in the form of vertical echogenic beams which are formed in the pleural surface. This study’s main objective is to determine if there is a relationship between broad B -lines in pulmonary ultrasounds and the existence of an alveolar pattern in thoracic X-rays. Methodology- we included dogs and cats treated at the Catholic University of Valencia’s Veterinary Hospital, (both in the emergency room and during routine check-ups), in which Blines were found. Subsequently, thoracic X-rays were obtained in these animals; and ultrasound images were compared with the x-ray findings to determine the relationship between them. Results- there was not a statistically significant relationship between ultrasound broad B-lines and the presence of an alveolar pattern in X-rays. Conclusions- The presence of broad B-Lines in thoracic ultrasound was not associated with the presence of an alveolar pattern in X-rays.
