La reconstrucción de lenguas y prelenguas debería contar como un ámbito
autónomo en el seno de la Lingüística moderna. La reconstrucción lingüística
tiene mayores posibilidades de lograr sus objetivos partiendo del pormenorizado
análisis de los cuatro principales posibles datos a nuestra disposición: la documentación
epigráfica, las glosas, las pervivencias lingüísticas y el material ofrecido
por la Tipología lingüística.
The reconstruction of languages and proto–languages should be considered an
autonomous field in modern Linguistics. The attempt to reconstruct a language
is more likely to succeed if we carefully analyze the four main kinds of data that
are most useful for this important linguistic challenge: the epigraphic background,
the glosses, the linguistic survivals and all the material which linguistic
Typology can provide.
