Asentimiento y formación personal: el aporte gnoseológico de J. H. Newman para el desarrollo de competencias éticas en el Siglo XXI

Abstract

En este escrito se analiza la importancia y actualidad para la educación ética que tiene la noción de asentimiento real en John Henry Newman. Se pone de manifiesto cómo la idea de formación en competencias puede fundamentarse en los conceptos de este filósofo. Se explicará que el asentimiento real es superior, desde el punto de vista de la formación personal, al asentimiento nocional, ya que solo gracias a este es capaz el ser humano de adquirir un compromiso fuerte con la verdad. Por el asentimiento real la persona madura en sus planteamientos vitales. Finalmente se analizará, desde el punto de vista de la filosofía de la educación, la importancia pedagógica del sentido ilativo en la formación de la mente humana.

In this paper is underlined the importance in moral education that has the notion of Real Assent of John Henry Newman. It is showed how the concept of competence training can be based on the ideas of this Philosopher. It is explained that Real Assent is superior, from the point of view of personal growth, to the Notional Assent. Only thank to Real Assent the Human Being is able to acquire a strong commitment to the truth, therefore it is essential for personal maturity. Finally it will be analyzed from the point of view of Philosophy of Education, the pedagogical importance of the Illative Sense in the formation of human mind.
