Evocació de l’Antic i Mitologia Clàssica en l’Obra de Pasqual Calbó (1752–1817).

Abstract

Al llarg del 2017 el Museu de Menorca va commemorar el bicentenari de la mort de l’artista maonès Pasqual Calbó i Caldés (1752–1817) amb nombrosos actes culturals i una exposició dedicada a la seva obra artística i científica. Les noves dades sorgides arrel d’aquesta commemoració ens han permès un apropament a la percepció de l’antic i a l’empremta de la mitologia en l’obra conservada d’aquest pintor –format a Venècia, Roma i Viena entre 1770 i 1780–, fidel a l’hermenèutica il·lustrada del mite i a les pautes estètiques del Neoclassicisme.

During 2017 the Menorca Museum commemorated the bicentennial of the death of local artist Pasqual Calbó Caldés (1752–1817) with numerous cultural events and an exhibition dedicated to his artistic and scientific work. The new data obtained through these commemorating events allowed a closer look into the perception of the ancient and the footprint of mythology in the work of this painter –formed in Venice, Rome and Vienna between 1770 and 1780–, faithful to the Enlightenment hermeneutics of the myth and the aesthetic guidelines of Neoclassicism.
