Meditaciones del Quijote, el primer libro de Ortega y
Gasset, es un libro de “encrucijada”, palabra que significa cruce de
caminos. El presente texto analiza el concepto de cultura, que por
un lado viene de la fenomenología, pero por otro mantiene la matriz
neokantiana. Por un lado es el modo de ver y apreciar el mundo, mas
por otro se refiere a los modos superiores de la cultura, tal como se
entendía en el mundo académico alemán.
Meditations on Quixote, Ortega y Gasset’s first book, is
considered a “crossroads” book. This article examines the concept
of culture, which is on one hand of phenomenological provenience,
but on the other hand it keeps a Neo-Kantian matrix. Culture is on
one side the way we see and appreciate the world, but on the other it refers to the higher modes of culture, science, ethics and art, as it
was understood in the German academic world.
