Abstract
The 21st century has been marked by increasing technological development and digitization in all areas of our lives, which is why social networks have become a new reality used by the entire population, especially young people. In the last decade, various problems related to these digital platforms have begun to be discussed, such as: depression, anxiety, body dissatisfaction, poor academic performance or problems falling asleep. However, it is not yet considered an addiction problem, but there is a great scientific contribution that supports these mentioned consequences and warns of the need for a change for the improvement, both individual and social. The present work consists of a proposal for a preventive program against the addiction of social networks in the adolescent population, whose objective is to make young people reflect on the use they make of social networks and internalize skills and techniques to reduce the incidence of addiction, dependency and misuse. To do this, 10 sessions will be held where information about the problem is provided and the following modules related to protective factors are addressed: Emotional self-control, self-esteem and social skills. The program is aimed at the population aged 15 to 16, and the purpose is to carry it out in the educational centers of the Valencian Community. Likewise, it is concluded that the work provides an innovative perspective, also prospers outside the school environment and is economically affordable.
