Aspectos éticos de la eutanasia frente a los cuidados paliativos

Abstract

INTRODUCCIÓN: Durante los últimos años se han producido numerosos debates sobre la manera de tratar a algunos pacientes en estado terminal y con enfermedades irreversibles. Recientemente, ha resurgido de nuevo el debate ético sobre la eutanasia, y su despenalización legal. OBJETIVOS: El objetivo de este Trabajo Fin de Máster es conocer los argumentos éticos de la Eutanasia y de los Cuidados Paliativos, analizar el concepto de eutanasia y suicidio asistido e investigar sobre la objeción de conciencia sanitaria y legalidad de la Eutanasia en España. RESULTADOS Y DISCUSIÓN: Haremos una descripción del pensamiento ético en ambos términos. Enfrentaremos dichos términos éticamente hablando. Describiremos los tipos de eutanasia que existen según diferentes circunstancias y los diferentes términos que han surgido con el paso de los años en cuanto a situaciones clínicas y derechos que rodean el final de la vida. Otro punto importante analizado en este trabajo es el problema bioético presentado en los profesionales sanitarios en las situaciones de decidir sobre el final de la vida, el compromiso moral en el que se encuentran estos sanitarios. Por último, realizamos un recorrido legal de la eutanasia en España, los derechos y artículos que entran en juego con este concepto y mostramos la situación actual de la legalización de la Eutanasia en nuestro país. CONCLUSIONES: Las conclusiones que hemos obtenido tras el estudio han sido qué ambas posiciones referentes al final de la vida tienen grandes argumentos éticos y que si se hacen unos cuidados paliativos de calidad se podría evitar, en algunos casos la demanda por parte del paciente de la eutanasia. Finalmente hemos comprobado los problemas éticos a los que se enfrentan los profesionales de la salud ante estas situaciones tan compleja y la negativa a la propuesta de la legalización de la eutanasia en España.

INTRODUCTION: In recent years there have been many discussions about how to treat some patients in a terminal state with irreversible diseases. Recently, the ethical debate on euthanasia, and its legal decriminalization, has resurfaced. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this Master's Degree is to understand the ethical arguments of Euthanasia and Palliative Care, to analyse the concept of euthanasia and assisted suicide and to investigate the health conscientious objection and legality of Euthanasia in Spain. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: We will make a description of the ethical thinking in both terms. We will face those terms ethically speaking. We will describe the types of euthanasia that exist according to different circumstances and the different terms that have emerged over the years in terms of clinical situations and rights surrounding the end of life. Another important point analyzed in this paper is the bioethical problem presented in health professionals in situations of deciding on the end of life, the moral commitment in which these health professionals find themselves. Finally, we carry out a legal review of euthanasia in Spain, the rights and articles that come into play with this concept and we showed the current situation of the legalization of Euthanasia in our country. CONCLUSIONS: The conclusions that we have reached after the study have been that both positions regarding the end of life have great ethical arguments and that if quality palliative care is done it could be avoided, in some cases the patient's demand for euthanasia. Finally, we have verified the ethical problems faced by health professionals in these complex situations and the rejection of the proposal to legalise euthanasia in Spain.
