Efecto del tratamiento con estatinas en el pronóstico de los pacientes con fibrilación auricular

Abstract

Las estatinas, además del efecto hipolipemiante, inhiben la síntesis de isoprenoides, obteniendo efectos pleiotrópicos como la estabilización de la placa aterosclerótica y un efecto antiinflamatorio, que podría influir en la evolución de la fibrilación auricular (FA). Se analiza si el tratamiento con estatinas mejora el pronóstico de pacientes con FA, reduciendo recidivas y morbimortalidad. Se recogieron datos de pacientes de Urgencias entre 2010-2015 de un hospital general (n= 1407) dividiéndolos según recibieran estatinas (555) o no (852). Se siguieron mínimo durante 1 año recogiendo recidivas de FA tras asistencia a urgencias, tras CVE programada, y mortalidad y eventos adversos.

Statins, in addition to the lipid-lowering effect, inhibit the synthesis of isoprenoids, obtaining pleiotropic effects such as stabilization of the atherosclerotic plaque and an anti-inflammatory effect, which could influence the evolution of atrial fibrillation (AF). The main objective is to analyze if statin treatment improves the prognosis of patients with AF, reducing relapses and morbidity and mortality. Data were collected from emergency room patients between 2010- 2015 from a general hospital (n = 1407) dividing them according to whether they received statins (555) or not (852). They were followed for at least 1 year, collecting recurrences of AF after attending the emergency room, after scheduled EVC, and mortality and adverse events.
