Terapia focal en el cáncer de próstata: resultados oncológicos y funcionales a corto y medio plazo

Abstract

El cáncer de próstata es la segunda neoplasia más frecuente y la tercera causa de muerte por cáncer en Europa. El sobrediagnóstico (67%) y sobretratamiento cuestionan el manejo actual y ha dado lugar al desarrollo de la terapia focal, con la finalidad de preservar la continencia, potencia y mantener la eficacia oncológica. Estudio retrospectivo de 112 pacientes sometidos a terapia focal entre 07/04/08-10/03/21 en la Fundación IVO, todos incluidos en Protocolos Europeos Prospectivos Multicéntricos (43 Crioterapia, 61 Electroporación y 8 Tookad).

Prostate cancer is the second most frequent neoplasm and the third cause of cancer death in Europe. Overdiagnosis (67%) and overtreatment with current management have led to the development of focal therapy, with the aim of preserving continence, potency and maintaining oncologic efficacy. Retrospective study of 112 patients undergoing focal therapy between 07/04/08-10/03/21 at the IVO Foundation, all included in European Prospective Multicenter Protocols (43 Cryotherapy, 61 Electroporation and 8 Tookad).
