dc.description.abstractIntroducción : El síndrome de Down (SD) es un trastorno multisistémico considerado la causa genética más frecuente de discapacidad intelectual. Es un síndrome relacionado con el neurodesarrollo, caracterizado por un retraso a nivel neurológico que se encuentra vinculado a la enfermedad del Alzheimer (EA). Una característica destacada de esta demencia son los niveles de estrés oxidativo (EO), que pueden tener un impacto en la patogenia del SD. Objetivos : Identificar el rol que desempeña el EO en la etiopatogenia del SD. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo, analítico y transversal basado en una revisión bibliográfica narrativa de los artículos recuperados mediante revisión bibliográfica de la base de datos Pubmed, con impacto Journal Citation Report (JCR). Para la búsqueda se emplearon palabras clave: Down’s syndrome , Oxidative stress , Plaque Amyloid , Alzheimer Disease , Superoxide Dismutase , Mitochondria . Resultados y discusión : A partir de los objetivos planteados, y tras aplicar las estrategias de búsqueda se seleccionaron finalmente 107 artículos, que fueron analizados y discutidos. Conclusiones : Como consecuencia del elevado EO que presentan los pacientes con SD, se produce una gran cantidad de problemas de salud relacionados a su vez etiopatogénicamente con alteraciones genéticas, alteraciones mitocondriales y aparición de placas amiloideas.es
dc.description.abstractIntroduction : Down Syndrome (SD) is a multisystemic disorder considered the most common genetic cause of intellectual disability. Is a neurodevelopmental-related disease, characterized by a neurological delay that is linked to Alzheimer’s disease (EA), a prominent characteristic of this dementia is the levels of Oxidative Stress (EO), which can have an impact on SD pathogeny. Objectives : To identify the role that EO plays in SD etiopathogenesis. Methodology : Descriptive, analytical and cross-sectional study based on a narrative bibliographic review of the articles retrieved through a bibliographic review of the Pubmed database, with the impact of the Journal Citation Report (JCR). For the search, keywords were used: Down’s syndrome, Oxidative stress, Plaque Amyloid, Alzheimer Disease, Superoxide Dismutase, Mitochondria. Results and discussion : Based on the objectives set, and after applying the search strategies, 107 articles were finally selected, which were analyzed and discussed. Conclusions : As a consequence of the high EO presented by patients with DS, a large number of health problems occur that are etiopathogenically related to genetic alterations, mitochondrial alterations and the appearance of amyloid plaques.en
